SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
New York Peace Institute scholarships are open to all applicants regardless of sex, age, color, nationality, sexuality or religious background. The New York Peace Institute works hard to build a diverse and representative mediator pool and considers the following factors when awarding scholarships:
- Financial need
- Racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, professional, linguistic, sexual and gender diversity
- Language skills (fluent Spanish speakers are needed)
- As a community-based program we also consider an applicant’s contribution to his/her community and look to support future mediators who desire to join our community of volunteer mediators and mediate through our centers.
- We are also looking to expand the reach of our Institute and establish meaningful partnerships with agencies that can refer cases for mediation. With that in mind, we also consider an applicant’s ability to establish long-term partnerships to referral agencies on behalf of the Institute.
